Philippines Keeps Offices, Schools Shut Thursday Amid Storm

The Philippines will suspend government work and classes for a fourth straight day on Thursday in the capital region and dozens of provinces with a new storm expected to bring more rains.

The Southeast Asian nation has been drenched in monsoon rains and a storm since the weekend, with 12 people killed and nine missing amid strong winds and massive flooding in many areas, according to the national police. Rains continued to flood some roads and streets on Wednesday.
