The European Union and China are preparing a landmark joint statement on climate cooperation, a move that could help galvanize momentum ahead of the COP30 summit in Brazil later this year.

Top officials including Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Council President Antonio Costa and China’s Xi Jinping will sign the declaration in Beijing on Thursday, according to people familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity discussing private talks.
