Ramaphosa Axes Minister, Easing S. Africa Coalition Tension

South Africa’s president ousted his embattled education minister, easing tensions within the governing alliance and clearing the path for the national budget to be approved.

Higher Education and Training Minister Nobuhle Nkabane is being replaced by her deputy Buti Manamela, the presidency said in a statement on Monday, without providing reasons for the change. Nkabane has faced allegations of lying to parliament, which she’s denied.
