Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. plunged for a second day as hope fades that the company will reach a deal with environmental regulators to move forward with a giant Alaskan mine.

At stake is the Pebble mine project near Bristol Bay, touted as the world’s largest undeveloped copper and gold resource. The US Army Corps of Engineers rejected an essential permit in 2020 under Donald Trump’s first presidency, and the project was blocked three years later by former US President Joe Biden on concerns it would hurt the area’s salmon industry.
