Iceland will start talks with the European Union on a defense partnership as part of its tightening relationship with the trade bloc.

The talks on the partnership, which would cover cooperation on critical infrastructure, dual-use defense investments and hybrid threats, are expected to be concluded by the end of the year, Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir told reporters in Reykjavik on Thursday, confirming earlier reports.
