Hungary registered the slowest wage growth in more than two years in May, showing consumers’ fading spending power to help reinvigorate the economy.

Salaries increased 7.7% from a year earlier at companies of at least 5 employees, data showed Wednesday, well below the lowest analyst estimate and the slowest since February 2023. That compared with a wage rise of 9.8% in April and almost 15% in May of last year.
