French Power Prices Go Negative With Solar Output at Record

France’s power generation from thousands of solar panels hit a fresh record on Thursday, sending prices below zero as the grid gets flooded with cheap electricity.

The green technology produced a record 19.5 gigawatts at 2 p.m. in Paris, meeting almost 40% of the nation’s demand, according to data from grid operator RTE.
