A report on the Bank of Japan’s branch managers’ meeting offered little clarity over the impact of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs, underscoring the central bank’s wait-and-see mode before considering another interest rate hike.

“Many reported limited impacts overall on production and exports at this stage from increased uncertainty” and other factors, said the quarterly summary of branch managers’ views released Thursday. “Looking ahead, many noted concerns among businesses over a potential drop in demand stemming from a global slowdown and a rise in output prices in the US.”
