X Says India’s Government Ordered Reuters Accounts be Blocked

Elon Musk’s X raised serious concerns about India’s media laws after the government ordered the social media platform to block thousands of accounts, including from international media like Reuters.

India’s government “demanded immediate action” against 2,355 account handles on July 3, X said in statement issued by its global governance team on Tuesday. Two international accounts belonging to Reuters were blocked in India on Sunday, it said. After a “public outcry,” the Indian government issued a request to unblock the two handles, it said.
