Soccer Investor Claims ‘Rogue Banker’ Cover-Up Ruined Merger
Embattled football club owner John Textor and his backers are suing each other over a failed merger, with allegations that the American businessman was deceived over connections to sanctioned Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman.
Textor, who is set to receive about £160 million ($217 million) from the controversial sale of a stake in Premier League team Crystal Palace, was sued on Thursday in London by Iconic Sports, a special purpose acquisition vehicle that attempted to combine with Textor’s Eagle Football Holdings.
