Texas Flood Deaths Rise as Crews Seek Victims in Grid Search
At least 70 people have died and many children are missing in the Texas Hill Country after catastrophic flooding that left officials struggling to explain whether they did enough to warn people of the fast-rising waters.
Eleven campers and a counselor from Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, remain unaccounted for, Sheriff Larry Leitha told reporters Sunday. The death toll rose to 38 adults and 21 children, he said. At least 11 others have died in nearby counties.
