Photographer: Leon Sadiki/BloombergSouth African President Cyril Ramaphosa faces a fresh crisis within his government after a senior police official accused one of his ministers of interference in an investigation into political assassinations.
The allegations forced Ramaphosa to issue a statement late on Sunday from Brazil, where he’s attending a BRICS summit, acknowledging the gravity of the claims while deferring any action until he returns to South Africa after his trip ends on Monday. Rival parties immediately called for an investigation into police corruption.
