European Stocks Gain as M&A Lifts Banco Sabadell and Spectris
European stocks rose amid a flurry of deals as Banco de Sabadell SA agreed to sell its British unit and Spectris Plc received an offer from KKR & Co Inc.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index was up 0.2% at the close. Basic resources and autos shares gained, while the real estate and retail sectors were the biggest laggards. Renewables stocks rose after a levy threatening the solar and wind industry was scrapped from the Senate GOP multitrillion-dollar tax bill.
