US Extends Debt-Limit Special-Measures Period Through July 24

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told US lawmakers he’s extending the latest period for deploying special accounting measures to keep within the debt limit through July 24, 2025.

The Treasury chief also repeated his May guidance to congressional leaders that they must act to increase or suspend the debt limit as soon as possible, before its scheduled August recess.
