Qatar Suspends Air Traffic; US, UK Urge Citizens to Shelter

Some Airlines Halt Gulf Flights After US Strikes Iran

Qatar suspended air traffic on Monday after the US and UK governments told citizens based in the Gulf state to shelter in place, amid fears that Iran will target US military assets in retaliation for strikes on its nuclear facilities.

Qatar’s foreign affairs ministry described the move as a precautionary measure to protect residents, citizens and visitors. It wasn’t immediately clear if there was a specific threat from Iran. Qatar hosts thousands of American servicemembers at the Al Udeid Air base.
