Finnish Lawmakers Approve Exit From Treaty Banning Landmines

Finland’s parliament approved the Nordic country’s withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention, which bans anti-personnel landmines.

Lawmakers in Helsinki voted 157 to 18 to back the government’s proposal on Thursday. A political decision on the step was taken in April to address the risks from a more aggressive Russia.
