Czech Government Wins Confidence Vote Months Ahead of Election

The Czech government survived a confidence vote initiated by the opposition over a Bitcoin scandalBloomberg Terminal, shouldering through the turmoil ahead of a parliamentary election scheduled for October.

The motion to oust Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s cabinet received 94 votes on Wednesday, falling short of the required majority in the 200-seat lower house of parliament in Prague. The opposition slammed the premier in a lengthy debate over a scandal involving a $45 million Bitcoin donation to the state from a convicted drug dealer.
