Sweden Ready to Borrow to Fund Military Expansion, Minister Says

Sweden’s rapid increase to its defense spending will be financed with debt in the coming years, the fiscally conservative Nordic state’s finance minister said.

The government in NATO’s newest member is boosting military outlays as the bloc is expected to agree on a goal of spending 5% of economic output on defenses at a summit later this month. Sweden foresees allocating 300 billion kronor ($31 billion) in the next decade.
