NATO Adopts Military Buildup Plans as Part of Spending Goal

NATO member states signed off on the military alliance’s most ambitious military ramp-up since the Cold War as leaders closed in on an agreement to ratchet up spending at a summit later this month.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization defense ministers met in Brussels to formally adopt so-called capability targets, a set of highly classified lists of weaponry and personnel that each country must contribute to the alliance’s defense plans. It includes a five-fold increase in ground-based air-defense systems capabilities, Bloomberg reported this week.
