President Donald Trump’s broad crackdown on immigration is spreading confusion and fear among the more than one million international students who attend US universities.

On June 4, Trump signed an executive action that aims to prevent foreign nationals from entering the US to study at Harvard University. (The next day, a US district judge temporarily blockedBloomberg Terminal the government from enforcing the order.) The president has indicated he may try to revoke the right of other universities to host international students. The administration has also stoked concern that international students’ suspected political views and protest activities can put their legal status at risk.
