Tropical Depression in Pacific Is Heading Toward Baja, California

Source: NOAATropical Storm Alvin has formed off Mexico’s Pacific Coast, becoming the first named system in the western hemisphere this year as it churns north toward Baja California.
Alvin has winds of 40 miles (64 kilometers) per hour and was about 670 miles south of the tip of Baja California, the US National Hurricane Center said in an 8 a.m. local time advisory. Its winds are forecast to peak at about 60 mph, below hurricane strength, on Saturday.
