US Solar Makers See Tariff Loophole for Asian Competitors

Photographer: Yen Duong/BloombergUS solar manufacturers are asking the US International Trade Commission to quickly address a potential tariff loophole on panel imports from Southeast Asia before a flood of equipment pours into the country.
The commission last week found solar imports from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam — which make up the bulk of the US market — were injuring domestic producers. The decision cleared the way for duties ranging from 34% to 3,521% depending on the country and manufacturer involved.
