Rayner Warns UK’s Target of 1.5 Million New Homes Is a Stretch
Just a year ago, UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner gave a rousing speech at the UKREiiF property conference in Leeds, with her promise to “get Britain building again” drawing rapturous applause from the developers gathered at the annual event.
But this week, her message at the same forum wasn’t so upbeat. She told the room packed with hundreds of delegates that a target announced by the Labour government in 2024 to build 1.5 million homes over five years was “stretching.”
