Telefonica Said to Study Raising Stake in Brazil Fiber Unit

Telefonica SA is weighing increasing its stake in a fiber-optic broadband venture it owns in Brazil, according to people familiar with the matter.

The carrier holds 50% of FiBrasil and is considering buying part or all of the rest, which is owned by Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, said the people, who cannot be named as the discussions are private. No decision has been made and Telefonica could end up not buying the stake.
