NJ Transit, Rail Union Spar Over Wages as Strike Deadline Nears

New Jersey Transit and its rail union are still tussling over the level of pay increases, the main sticking point to avoid a strike that would cripple the train system statewide.

Thursday’s wage talks have been contentious so far, and are likely to continue into the late evening, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. Workers are set to strike as early as 12:01 a.m. New York time Friday if an agreement isn’t reached.
