India’s inflation cooled further in April, creating room for more interest rate cuts by the central bank to bolster growth in Asia’s third largest economy.

The consumer price index rose 3.16% from a year earlier, data from the statistics ministry showed Tuesday. That’s the slowest rise since July 2019 and compares with a 3.2% increase predicted by economists in a Bloomberg survey. Inflation eased to 3.34% in March.
