Norway’s foreign minister, Espen Barth Eide, said Israel’s plan to forcibly move the population in Gaza to the south of the enclave would be a “gross violation of international law.”

“If they do it, it will be very serious and illegal,” Eide told Bloomberg in an interview Friday, when he compared the plan to what the Russians are doing in the annexed Crimean peninsula. Israel recently said the plan, which includes controlling aid distribution, is meant to pressure Hamas into returning hostages.
