India’s cricket governing body has suspended cricket matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League, or IPL, for at least a week, amid a rapid escalation in armed conflict with neighboring Pakistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, or BCCI, said in a statement Friday that the “new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation.” IPL was scheduled to conclude on May 25 as per the original timetable.
