Deutsche Bank AG has taken steps to meaningfully increase its exposure to the defense industry, including setting up a dedicated team to work on such deals, according to the head of corporate and investment banking at Germany’s largest lender, Fabrizio Campelli.

Frankfurt-based Deutsche Bank “established a bank-wide, cross-product defense and infrastructure working group in March,” Campelli said in an interview. Since then, it has embarked on about 20 new deals spanning equity capital-markets services, mergers and acquisitions, as well as financings, he said. The core working group of the new team holds some 30 bankers, according to a spokesperson for the bank.
