Burger King’s quarterly sales declined in North America as fears about the economy and job security prompt consumers to cut back on restaurant visits.

Same-store sales for the region fell 1.3% in the first three months of the year, the company said Thursday, a steeper drop than analysts surveyed by Bloomberg were anticipating. The burger chain’s North America division is predominantly made up of US locations.
