President Donald Trump’s ceasefire with the Houthis will help him ensure a smoother trip to the Middle East next week, with the US pulling back from the conflict to focus more on business and investment deals.
Trump unexpectedly announced Tuesday he would order a halt to an eight-week bombing campaign against the Yemen-based Houthis, after the militant group agreed to stop attacking US warships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, appeared to confirm the Oman-brokered agreement, though made clear aggression against US ally Israel would continue.
