US stocks fell for a second straight day as the latest signals on trade negotiations weren’t enough to change investors’ sentiment and corporate earnings showed growing pessimism over the negative impact of global tariffs.

The S&P 500 Index fell 0.8%. The Nasdaq 100 declined 0.9% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average also slipped 0.9%.
