Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is on track to become the nation’s first leader since 2004 to win consecutive elections, according to opinion polls, with his center-left government extending its lead over the opposition ahead of Saturday’s vote.

Albanese’s Labor Party is now leading the Liberal-National Coalition by 52.5% to 47.5% in the final Newspoll survey of the campaign, published by The Australian newspaper on Friday night, a slight increase in the party’s lead by 0.5% since the last poll over the previous weekend.
