Marcelo Claure Expands Investment Empire to Build Out Brightstar

Marcelo Claure, the entrepreneur and investor who previously steered SoftBank Group Corp.’s operations, is joining private equity firm Brightstar Capital Partners in a bid to extend its middle-market reach.

Claure is also expanding his “significant minority stake” in Brightstar Capital, after first investing in 2023, he said in an interview, without providing financial details of the transaction. He will serve as a partner and co-chairman of the firm alongside Chief Executive Officer Andrew Weinberg, a former colleague of Claure’s at his first firm, telecommunications company Brightstar Corp.
