The Pentagon needs to get more weapons faster, make it easier for companies to work with the government and ensure national security is funded sufficiently and consistently, according to President Donald Trump’s nominee for assistant secretary of defense for industrial base policy.

The US military faces shortfalls in the complex weapons needed to address global threats, facing “delivery delays and increasing costs” that reduce its readiness for a potential conflict, Michael Cadenazzi told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday.
