The US Federal Aviation Administration slowed departures and arrivals at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday due to issues with staffing and air-traffic control equipment, underscoring the fragility of the US system.

The regulator issued a ground stop at the airport due to “telecommunications and equipment issues” at an FAA facility in Philadelphia that guides aircraft into and out of Newark. While the issues have been resolved, the facility now faces staffing issues, according to the FAA.
