Ghana’s central bank chief forecasts inflation in Africa’s biggest gold producer will slow further after the monetary authority raised borrowing costs and as the new government of President John Mahama cuts spending.

Inflation, which slowed to a five-month low of 22.4% in March, will ease to 16% by the end of the year, Bank of Ghana Governor Johnson Asiama said in an interview in Washington on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings. That would be the lowest in more than three years, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
