Colombian President Gustavo Petro took aim at the head of International Monetary Fund, referencing “vampires,” after the lender paused his nation’s access to its $8.1 billion flexible credit line.

The IMF, led by Bulgarian economist Kristalina Georgieva, this month highlighted the greater-than-expected deterioration in Colombia’s public finances. On Saturday it issued a statementBloomberg Terminal saying that the South American nation’s access to the credit line is contingent on completing an ongoing consultation and a subsequent review.
