Turkish Central Bank Touts Strong Lira at US Investor Meetings

Turkey’s central bank pledged to maintain a sufficiently tight monetary policy that will allow the lira to appreciate in real terms, according to people who participated in officials’ recent meetings with global investors.
Governor Fatih Karahan held those discussions this week with foreign money managers who were visiting Washington D.C. for the International Monetary Fund’s spring meetings, the people said, asking not to be identified as the talks were private.
