Brazil’s Inflation Accelerates as Investors Debate Rate Hike

Brazil’s annual inflation accelerated to the highest level since mid-February 2023 in a report coming days after central bank directors assured investors that tight monetary policy is working.

Official data released Friday show consumer prices rose 5.49% from a year ago, very near the 5.48% median estimate from analysts surveyed by Bloomberg but well above the 3% target. On the month, inflation hit 0.43%.
