US stocks climbed for a third straight session Thursday, with technology shares leading the way as investors digested updates on US-China trade relations and evaluated recent comments on interest-rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.

The S&P 500 Index gained 2.0% in New York, while the Nasdaq 100 Index rose 2.8%. The S&P 500 posted three days of gains of at least 1.5%, which ties for the longest win streak of such magnitude since 1974, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
