Turkey’s largest city of Istanbul was hit by a 6.2-magnitude earthquake, the US Geological Survey said, though no serious damage was immediately reported.

Istanbul is home to about 16 million people and located in an earthquake-prone zone, and officials have long feared a major tremor could one day hit the metropolis.
