A top Chinese space official criticized the prospect of shifting US space priorities, contrasting Beijing’s steady progress toward lunar exploration with uncertainties in Washington about President Donald Trump’s plans for the moon.

“When the president changes, his policies change,” Wu Weiren, chief designer of China’s lunar exploration program, said at an event in Shanghai to mark the country’s annual Space Day celebration.
