Italy Says It Can Meet NATO 2% Defense Spending Target in 2025

Italy will likely be able to increase its defense spending to reach a NATO target of 2% of gross domestic product as early as this year, Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said.
“We are more than aware, also in light of current tensions, of the need to increase such spending in the next few years,” Giorgetti told lawmakers during a parliamentary hearing in Rome on Thursday.
