Slovakia tightened rules on nongovernmental organizations in a move that critics say may stifle dissent in the European Union member state.

The ruling coalition on Wednesday approved an amendment that requires NGOs to disclose detailed information about their funding, donors, and personnel. If they fail to comply, they will face fines.
