Singer Luis R. Conriquez was recently booed out of a stadium after he refused to sing some of his hits, which include songs that feature brazen references to “los Guzmanes” of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman fame.

Song lyrics praising drug traffickers are under scrutiny in Mexico, where government officials are seeking to convince Donald Trump’s administration that they are partners in a battle against the country’s criminal groups.

Earlier this month, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said in a social media post that the US had canceled work and tourism visas of members of a Mexican band that displayed images of a notorious drug cartel leader during a show.
