MercadoLibre Inc., Latin America’s most valuable publicly traded company, plans to add 28,000 workers across the region this year in a bold move to charge forward with its growth plans despite global volatility and an escalating trade war.

Headcount at the Montevideo-based e-commerce and fintech giant will surge 33% year-on-year to 112,000 by the end of 2025, Chief People Officer Sebastian Fernandez Silva said in an interview. The majority will be allotted to logistics concentrated in its largest markets of Brazil and Mexico. The remainder will be in technology and other business areas.
