Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala called on the European Union to curb its bureaucracy and environmental rules to rekindle economic growth and boost its defense capabilities amid geopolitical turbulence.

The 27-nation trading bloc’s “heavy-handed” business regulation has hindered private investment in innovation and new technologies, Fiala told a business forum in Prague on Tuesday.
