Ecopetrol Signs Deal with AES to Buy Colombia Wind Farm Stake

Ecopetrol SA signed an accord with a unit of AES Corporation to buy a minority stake in a planned cluster of wind farms in northern Colombia.

The state-owned company reached an investment agreement framework with AES Colombia to acquire 49% of the Jemeiwaa Ka’I wind cluster in La Guajira province with planned capacity of 1,087 megawatts and a 35-kilometer (22-mile) transmission line, according to a statement Monday. Additional terms and the expected closing date were not disclosed.
