President Xi Jinping will visit three Southeast Asian countries next week, as China steps up efforts to court partners to buffer the economy against an escalating trade war with the US.
Xi will pay a state visit to Vietnam from April 14 to 15, and then Malaysia and Cambodia from April 15 to 18, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a Friday statement. US President Donald Trump this week granted a 90-day tariff pause on these three countries while raising levies on China as Washington seeks to isolate Beijing.
